Parliament’s Ad hoc Committee on Section 100 intervention in the North West has made a recommendation that Section 100 of the Constitution in the province be lifted.
The committee says the province has improved drastically.
The North West provincial government has been under administration since 2018, following the removal of Supra Mahumapelo as Premier.
The Chairperson of the Committee, China Dodovu, says administrators deployed in the province have managed to bring stability.
“The time is right now to totally review the intervention because in my respective view and in the view of the committee there is a lot of stability and the province can stand on its own. Going forward, I am sure [that] this is the matter [the] national government will look at positively … to ensure that government runs on its own. The section 100 intervention has run its course, has done its work and it is high time that it is reconsidered otherwise,” adds Dodovu.
