Parliament to debate on “building a better Africa”

The National Assembly will hold a debate on Africa Day under the theme: “The year for Arts, Culture and Heritage – Building a better Africa and a better world in the midst of COVID-19.

Parliament will this week continue debating budget votes of various government departments and entities. At the same time, it will hold about 40 committee meetings shared between the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces.

Official opening of the 4th session of 5th Pan-African Parliament:

By the end of the week, there will a joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament to debate the 25th anniversary of the Constitution.

Some of the Ministers that will outline how their departments will use the funds allocated for this financial year, are Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan, Public Works and Infrastructure, Patricia De Lille, Social Development, Lindiwe Zulu as well as Justice and Constitutional Development Ronald Lamola.

The House will also consider a report on determining the remuneration, salaries and allowances of the Public Protector, Commissioners of the South African Human Rights Council, Magistrates and Constitutional Court judges.

In addition, there will be a debate on bullying amongst learners on Thursday.
