A Youth Day debate and public hearings on the recent spate of cash in transit heists are some of main events taking place at Parliament this week.

Thirty four committees of Parliament will meet to consider among others, legislative matters and budget votes.

Parliamentary spokesperson, Moloto Mothapo, says the Youth debate will take place as part of celebrating late ANC stalwarts Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu.

“There will also be a very important debate that marks Youth Month, relating to youth jobs and development, held under the theme within the context of commemorating Tata Mandela and Ma Sisulu,” Mothapo says.

Mothapo says cash in transit heists will again be discussed by the Police Committee, later this week.

“To discuss and find ways of curbing the on-going worrying spate of cash in transit heists, various stakeholders will come to discuss this matter so that Parliament and the SA public can work towards ending this worrying scourge of violence that has been gripping the country,” Mothapo says.
