The South African Police Services (SAPS) has urged parents to take extra care of their children during the festive period.

This comes after a five-year-old girl, who went missing last week Friday, was found in Boschkop, east of Pretoria.

The police’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is investigating a case of abduction.

The little girl is currently in hospital.

Spokesperson Conny Moganedi says parents should ensure that their children are safe at all times.

“ Tshwane east cluster family violence, Child protection and sexual offences unit members are investigating a case of abduction after a reported incident of a missing five year old girl. The girl was found dumped near Boschkop area and she was later taken to the hospital where she is undergoing medical treatment. The parents must always walk with their children. They must not leave their children unattended and they must always make sure that the children are safe at their homes. They mustn’t send them to the shops alone.”
