Twelve children have been reunited with their families after going astray on Durban’s beaches.

The successful reunions come after an initiative by the eThekwini Municipality to issue children with identification tags with the contact details of their parents or guardians should they go missing.

eThekwini Metro police spokesperson Parboo Sewpersad is urging parents to make sure that their children have the wrist bands as soon as they get to the public beaches.

“We are encouraging parents to ensure that the wrist bands are tagged on the children along the beach front. People coming to Durban this is a caring city act and behave responsibly and enjoy yourself. Jabula uphephe.”
