Paramedics attacked in Limpopo

Two emergency services workers are recovering in hospital after they were injured during an attack in Northam near Thabazimbi in Limpopo.

The paramedics were responding to an emergency when the ambulance they were travelling in was set alight.

Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba has described the incident as barbaric as the personnel were on duty to save lives.

“Two of crew who were responding to an emergency last night were ambushed by the community which was protesting. One of the female’s managed to escape to the bush, unfortunately the driver was left behind and was beaten. They are both admitted at one of our hospitals and they are in a stable condition.”
