Higher Education Minister Naledi Pandor says they have set aside over R100 000 for career advice campaigns, targeting learners as well as tertiary students.

She was speaking at Cape Town Station while distributing education material to parents and students ahead of her budget vote in Parliament on Thursday afternoon.

Pandor says they plan to embark on countrywide campaigns to inform potential students about career opportunities.

“A lot of young people tend to exclude themselves from the opportunity because they know their parents do not have money to pay for their studies. We try to reach them early in Grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 even those in colleges but might not have funding to reach out and help them to make a choice.”
