It’s a collaboration between the University of Fort Hare, Walter Sisulu University and the University of South Africa.
The state of the art facility will cater for 18 000 students from the three universities.
A state of the art library is named after the late struggle icon and academic, Dr Phyllis Ntantala who was married to professor AC Jordaan.

The modern library will stimulate the exchange of intellectual property.
Naledi Pandor says:”The library does not only have printed material but also will assist in electronic research and digital learning.”
The minister called on the three universities to have a strong maintenance plan to preserve the legacy.
All the universities are optimistic that this will help to boost research activities at their institutions.
Students are already making use of the academic material and the library building that offers a conducive environment for study.
