Pandor congratulates Dr Tlaleng Mofokeng on appointment to UN

Dr Tlaleng Mofokeng is a Commissioner at the Commission for Gender Equality.

The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Naledi Pandor, has congratulated Dr Tlaleng Mofokeng following her appointment to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

Dr Mofokeng is a Commissioner at the Commission for Gender Equality.

A statement issued by Pandor’s office on Monday highlights Dr Tlaleng’s solid work history.

” She worked as a medical director at a private practice (DISA Clinic) and as an independent medical consultant. She also worked as a senior medical officer at the Gauteng Department of Health. She was previously an advisor to the Technical Committee for the National Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Framework Strategy in South Africa,” read the statement.

According to the statement, Dr Tlaleng has in the past worked with UN projects.

“She has collaborated with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Envoy of the Secretary-General on Youth, the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of human rights by persons with albinism and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) on health-related human rights matters in South Africa,” added the statement.

Minister Pandor wished Dr Mofokeng well in her new position and offered South Africa’s support to her role as Special Rapporteur for the UNHRC.
