The High Court sitting in Palm Ridge in Ekurhuleni has heard that one of the three murder accused in the Nathaniel Julies murder trial was allegedly trigger-happy.

The state’s second witness, SAPS officer Mandla Sithole on Tuesday told the court of how accused number two, Simon Ndyalvane would randomly open fire using rubber bullets on groups of people not wearing masks during the hard lockdown.

The 16-year-old Eldorado Park boy was shot and killed in August last year allegedly by the police. The three officers face different charges including murder, unlawful possession of ammunition and accessory to murder.

Police Constable, Mandla Sithole testified that on the night Julies died, he saw accused two, Simon Ndaylivani carrying shotgun ammunition that he had not seen before.

Sithole testified that at the police college he has been trained to only use rubber bullets that are transparent in colour, but the ones Ndalyvane was having that day were green in colour. It’s alleged that Julies was killed with lethal ammunition that is prohibited in South Africa.

So far the testimonies are implicating accused one, Caylene Whiteboy for the alleged murder. The trial continues.
