Higher Education Minister Buti Manamela says over R2 billion will be set aside to roll out “To the Power of X²” programme.
The initiative will assist unemployed graduates who are unable to get jobs due to lack of work experience that often leads to unsuccessful job applications, as employers often require a minimum of two years work experience for most vacancies.
The programme “To the Power of X²” initiative, which will be spearheaded by Services SETA (Sector Education and Training Authorities),was launched by the Higher Education and Training Ministry in Mahikeng this week.
Manamela says, “We are expecting just above two billion rands to be spent on this, this is more coordinated, we’re going to ensure that every learner is in a formal employment, every learner has a portfolio to show and every learners has mentor and every learner is assigned tasks that will help them prepare for job. One of the big things is the attitude that young people have towards work so this are some of the things we’ll help fix.”
