Reading Time: < 1 minute

Police have used rubber bullets and teargas to disperse an angry crowd in Chatsworth south of Durban on Monday night, after scores of residents embarked on a protest after a failed car hijacking in Shallcross.

A nine-year-old girl was killed during the hijacking.

Pandemonium broke out after some protesters were allegedly arrested for public violence.

Angry residents are demanding they be released.

According to the residents, innocent people have been arrested.

They want to know why the police, serving their community, are arresting their own people. The residents says the police are shooting and spraying teargas at innocent people.
