Co-founder of Kalawa Jazmee Records company, Oscar Mdlongwa known as Oskido, has described the passing of Emmanuel “Mjokes’ Matsane as devastating.

The 54-year-old singer from the Kwaito group Trompies passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning after his vehicle hit a steel barricade and plunged down an embankment in Soweto.

Matsane was alone in the vehicle.

The group had just performed at the Soweto Arts and Culture Festival in Meadowlands.

Oskido says the entertainment industry has lost a giant.

“We didn’t expect man. They were performing in Soweto. I think the accident happened when they left the venue in the early hours of the morning. I was really not prepared for it even right now it is very tough for me. We have been together for 25 years, so, therefore, it is not easy for us to lose the brother like that.”
