Oscar Pistorius Trial: Week 9, Wednesday 2 July 2014

Reading Time: < 1 minute

State prosecutor, Gerrie Nel, continue with the cross-examination of Oscar Pistorius’s manager, Peet van Zyl in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, the matter was adjourned early after Nel asked for time to prepare for his second leg of questioning.

Van Zyl testified that Pistorius was not a violent person saying he was a loving boyfriend to Reeva Steenkamp.

The ‘Blade Runner’ shot and killed Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day last year.

Nel questioned van Zyl about reports of Pistorius losing his temper on several occasions with international media while overseas. The sporting agent told the court that in those incidents, the line of questioning from the reporters could have set anyone off and Pistorius’s reaction was understandable.

Van Zyl failed to elaborate on further examples of negative coverage furnished by the prosecutor, saying that he did not know the details. Nel questioned whether it was difficult for van Zyl to speak negatively about his client.
