Oscar Pistorius Trial: Week 6, Monday 14 April 2014

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Paralympian Oscar Pistorius will on Monday, spend a sixth day in the witness box in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.
State Prosecutor, Gerrie Nel cross-examined Pistorius for three days last week.

The athlete has pleaded not guilty to four charges, including the murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day last year.

Pistorius claims he mistook her for an intruder at his Pretoria East home.

A member of the public has laid a charge at the Human Rights Commission against State Prosecutor, Gerrie Nel for calling Pistorius a liar during cross-examination.

The person claims that Nel has violated the athlete’s rights for calling him a liar in court and not respecting his constitutional rights.

Presiding Judge, Thokozile Masipa however, did warn the prosecutor to mind his language.

This comes after Pistorius has contradicted himself and admitted to making mistakes, constantly adapting his evidence.

He has consistently said he didn’t intend to shoot at anyone, didn’t have time to think and that he did not remember a lot of details about issues relating to the four charges.
