The third State witness continue with his testimony on Day Three of the Oscar Pistorius murder trial. Pistorius is accused of the premeditated murder of Reeva Steenkamp. Charl Johnson is the latest witness in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria. The pace quickened somewhat on Tuesday after Advocate Barry Roux for the defence ended his day-long cross-examination of the first witness Michelle Burger. The second state witness, Estelle van der Merwe, was asked several questions by both prosecutor Gerrie Nel and Roux before she was dismissed by Judge Masipa. Thereafter Burger’s husband, Charl Johnson, was called to give his testimony in chief. Earlier, Roux peppered Burger with questions as to why there were so many similarities with her statement and that of her husband’s. Therefore, it’s expected that during Johnson’s cross-examination on Wednesday morning this might again become an issue.
