The African National Congress (ANC) says the organisation has lost a tower of moral conscience and an epitome of wisdom following the passing away of Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu. He died at his home in Cape Town at the age of 90.

ANC’s Pule Mabe:

The Archbishop was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his role in the struggle to abolish the apartheid system.

“The ANC is saddened by the passing of Archbishop Desmond Tutu who was the last living Nobel Peace Prize laureate in our country. He was a tower of moral conscience and an epitome of wisdom. He stood for human rights and was an anti-apartheid activist. He spoke against atrocities that were mitted against black people by the apartheid regime,” ANC spokesperson says Pule Mabe.
