Organisation against GBV working to rehabilitate both victims and perpetrators

An organisation against gender-based violence (GBV), Real Man Foundation, based in the Vhembe district in Limpopo, says it is working hard to rehabilitate both the victims and perpetrators of the scourge.
A group of men from Tsianda village outside Thohoyandou formed the foundation which is giving trauma counselling to victims and their families.
The organisation also provides awareness education for men and boys about gender-based violence.
Crime statistics show the Thohoyandou area is a hot spot for contact crimes.
The organisation’s founder, Calvin Nengudza, says they have recorded over 100 incidents of gender-based violence this month alone.
“It’s really sad. Especially this month on Women’s Month,  you know. Let me start with stats for last month. It was running 92,  but this month I checked last week it was running something like 113 and it’s before month-end. So we believe that when we check the final stats next week,  I believe it’s going to be more,  120 to 130. So it’s really disappointing especially this month,”says Nengudza.
