Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Sizakhele Nkosi-Malobane says this is not a target on foreign nationals but a target on those who commit crimes while in the country.

Gauteng MEC for Community Safety Sizakhele Nkosi-Malobane says her department will intensify its effort to rid the province of undocumented people through Operation Fiela.

Nkosi-Malobane says she’s in talks with other departments to ensure strict access at the country’s port of entry to avoid the influx of illegal immigrants.

However, she says this is not a target on foreign nationals but a target on those who commit crimes while in the country.

Nkosi-Malobane has been speaking at the routine performance review meeting with the leadership of the Provincial Law Enforcement Agencies.

“We have a high number of housebreakings where we will be able to get positive fingerprints that are not linked to anybody. In simply terms, it means a person who has committed that crime is a person who is not documented in this country. There are undocumented individuals who we are actually going to make sure that we get rid of them in this province. Whether arresting and sending them home.”
