Louis Oosthuizen is the only South African to have advanced to the last sixteen of the World Golf Championships Match Play tournament in Austin, Texas.

He beat former champion Jason Day of Australia in his last group match, and then had to play American Jason Dufner in a play-off to determine the group winner.

Oosthuizen birdied the first play-off hole, and will play Ian Poulter of England in the last sixteen.

Meanwhile, world number four Jordan Spieth and seventh-ranked Rory McIlroy were ousted after suffering defeats in final group matches.

Brian Harman never trailed in dispatching McIlroy 5 and 3.

Meanwhile Spieth was knocked out by United States Ryder Cup partner Patrick Reed, who won their much anticipated match 2 and 1.
