As of Thursday online stores may sell anything except alcohol and tobacco products. They must also promote and support local industries and goods.

Government has gazetted new regulations for online stores detailing measures to be implemented in order to stem the spread of coronavirus.

Retailers must provide consumers with detailed instructions on how to sanitize their goods once they have been delivered.

On delivery, couriers and customers must wear face masks when interacting with each other.

Strict social distancing measures must be applied at the company and warehouse where the goods are stored.

South Africa is currently on Level-4 of the nationwide lockdown and there have been calls for more industries to open in order to stimulate more economic activity.
