There is only one week until the entry deadline for the 2022 leg of the marathon, says the Comrades Marathon Association on Tuesday.

The world’s oldest ultramarathon returns to the roads in August after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aspirant athletes are encouraged to get their entries in for this year’s race by Monday next week. The association says so far there are 15 226 entries received.

The 95th Comrades Marathon is expected to take place on the 28th of August and as usual, it will feature South African as well as international runners.

The association’s Marketing and Communications Specialist Delaine Cools says, “Runners have just six days to get their entries in for the 2022 Comrades marathon. The entry process closes next Monday the 16th of May. This year’s race will be a down run on Sunday, the 28th of August 2022, starting at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall and finishing 12 hours later at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. We do urge our runners to get their entries in.”
