One suspect arrested in connection with Newcastle farming couple’s murder

Glen and Vida Rafferty were attacked while entering their home.

Police have arrested one suspect in connection with the brutal murder of a farming couple in the Normandien area outside Newcastle.

The murder of Glen and Vida Rafferty three weeks ago has shocked the community.

The couple was gunned down on the doorstep of their house.

There has been tension in the area over recent farm attacks.

Yesterday, KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala met with representatives of farmers and farmworkers in Newcastle.

He said his government takes the issue of farm killings very seriously and will address allegations of police conduct with the law enforcement authorities.
