One arrested, another wounded after shootout on Beyers Naude Drive

One lane has been opened to traffic on Beyers Naude Drive, in Randburg Johannesburg, after a shootout between police and robbery suspects.

One person has been shot and wounded and another arrested.

The road had to be closed as police combed the area.

Spokesperson for the Johannesburg Metro Police Department, Xolani Fihla says forensics are processing the scene.

“There is a crime scene on Bayers Naude Drive and John Adamson street, near West Park cemetery. From the information, SAPS were chasing suspects on Bayers when a shootout ensued. The road had to close to traffic but at the moment, one lane has been opened for traffic to flow as forensics are processing the scene. The roadway should be opened in the next 30 minutes.”
