Singh, who has scored two goals in the COSAFA Cup, still stands a chance to go to Egypt.

Portuguese based striker Luther Singh has raised his hand to Bafana Bafana head coach Stuart Baxter with the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament only two weeks away.

Singh, who has scored two goals in the COSAFA Cup, still stands a chance to go to Egypt.

Baxter has hinted that two to three players could be selected from the COSAFA Cup squad , but Singh is not raising his hopes yet.

Baxter is expected to announce his final 23-man squad to the AFCON next Monday before they fly out of the country next Wednesday.

Singh scored goals against Botswana and Uganda respectively and his overall contribution in the young Bafana attack has proven that he’s asset to future Bafana squads.

With the team largely made up of the U23 players and most of them having grown up together in the junior national teams, it’s also been easy for these players to relate to each other.

At the beginning of next season, Singh will be going back to his club Sporting Braga after spending the past six months on loan at the relegated Chaves in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

A product of Farouk Khan’s Stars of Africa Academy, Singh wants to continue playing at the highest level next season. – Report by Velile Mnyandu
