Several other people have been killed in the area over the past few weeks and it is suspected to be taxi-related incidents.

The Western Cape Minister of Transport, Donald Grant has condemned the on-going taxi violence in Delft on the Cape Flats.

This after Chairperson of the Delft Taxi Association, Nazeem “Arab” Daniels, was shot and killed on Monday.

Several other people have been killed in the area over the past few weeks and it is suspected to be taxi-related incidents.

Transport Ministry Spokesperson, Sphesihle Dube says Grant is planning on implementing drastic measures to end the violence in the area.

“Minister Grant called for an urgent meeting with the Department of Transport and Public Works officials, together with the City of Cape Town and SAPS to agree to certain measures moving forward,” Dube said.

“Few of them being that the Minister will publish in the government gazette his intention as per Section 91 (National Land Transport Act) to institute certain measures which might see the rank in Delft being closed off,” said the spokesperson.
