The trial of controversial pastor Timothy Omotoso from the Jesus Dominion International Church, has been postponed to the 26th of April in the High Court in Gqeberha. The state needs time to prepare documentation on all communication between the state, the ninth witness and the consulting advocate.
The defence argues that the information in Merlucia Jiyani’s statement and what is in the medical doctor’s and advocate’s reports do not match. Psychologist Karen Holleley has taken to the stand, saying her practice interviewed 20 of the complainants and there was a definite pattern of grooming.
She presented a summary of the conclusion to the court, but the defence wants the entire one thousand-page document handed over. Omotoso and two co-accused are facing more than ninety sex-related charges.
