Omotoso case postponed

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The case against Nigerian Pastor Timothy Omotoso of the Jesus International Dominion and his two female co-accused has been postponed to the 29 January.

The trio made a brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court.

The case has been postponed to allow the state to obtain two outstanding certificates from the National Director of Public Prosecution.

Omotoso is facing charges of sexual assault, human trafficking and a separate charge of contravening the Immigration Act while his co-accused are facing charges of racketeering and human trafficking.

The state wants to add a charge of racketeering and conduct further investigation into the contravention of the Immigration Act by Omotoso.

The state has also requested the charges against the three be centralised as they occurred in different provinces.

One of the accused is eight months pregnant and will return to KwaZulu-Natal to give birth.

The second suspect in the matter gave birth five days before she was arrested by the Hawks. The two women are both out on bail.

Omotoso has been incarcerated since his arrest in April in 2017.
