Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant has launched training programmes worth R22 million in KwaZulu-Natal for young people who have lost their jobs. The projects are funded by the Unemployment Insurance Fund and are undertaken together with the non-profit organisation, John Langalibalele Institution.

Labour Department spokesperson S’thembele Tshwete says 50 people will be trained in the aviation sector at Durban’s Virginia Airport.

“So the Department through UIF ploughed some money to train more or less 400 people. But the 400, it is 50 in maritime and 50 for aviation. There are other projects; four other projects where in total we have total about 400 young students. “
