Heads of state and government have started arriving in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the African Union Summit.
They include Rwandan President Paul Kagame who chairs a team of experts that include former South Africa Reserve Bank Tito Mboweni.
The team is tasked with the responsibility of coming up with a proposal on how to revitalise the AU.
Other high-profile people who have arrived are former president Thabo Mbeki who chairs a panel which will seek g solutions to problems of plundering of Africa resources.
The United Nations Under-Secretary and Director for Women, Dr Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, is also at the summit.
Mlambo-Ngcuka is set to attend five meetings that will consider gender issues.
President Jacob Zuma, who chairs the committee on infrastructure, is expected to arrive in the afternoon.
