Police in North West have arrested a former police constable for allegedly assisting an alleged serial rapist to escape from custody in Wolmaranstad.
The 38-year-old former policeman will appear in court on Monday.
Johannes Batsible is facing 28 charges of rape and murder. He was arrested in August and managed to escape form lawful custody, allegedly through the assistance of the former policeman, who is reported to be his friend.
Batsibile has now been re-arrested by the provincial organised crime unit.
The former constable will appear in the Wolmaranstad Magistrate’s court on Monday.
