SACP General Secretary, Blade Nzimande, has appealed to ANC delegates heading to the much anticipated ANC Elective Conference, to ensure that they elect a leadership capable of taking the party out of the crisis it is currently facing.
Speaking at the Communist Party’s eighth Provincial Elective Conference in Stillfontein near Klerksdorp in North West, Nzimande stressed that it was in the best interest of the alliance, that the leadership that emerges out of the December Conference, prioritise bridging disparities and strengthening unity within the tripartite alliance.
SACP delegates will spend the entire weekend, discussing and mapping up a way forward in ensuring the strengthening of its alliance with the ANC and Cosatu.
Delegates will also be expected to elect the new provincial leadership.
With the ANC elective conference around the corner, and the battle lines drawn for the top positions, the SACP General Secretary, who gave a keynote address, cautioned delegates going to the party’s national elective conference in December, to think critically about who they will be voting for.
“We want to say to those delegates, you must remember your decision it will have implications not only for our alliance but for our country.”
On the current state of affairs in Zimbabwe, the SACP General Secretary also commented.
“One of the things we realised comrades is that ZANU-PF have become bureaucratic and therefore a distance has been created between itself and the people which is the phenomenon that is happening here at home.”
“We wish that this path that the Zimbabweans are travelling plays a basis for success rather than the continuation of the old practices under the different leadership.”
Meanwhile, SACP Provincial Secretary in the North West, Madoda Sambatha, during his political report to the congress, mentioned that the North West province is leading in the manifestation of problems the ANC is currently facing.
He was referring to divisions and factionalism believed to be characterising the party.
The SACP provincial congress is expected to end on Sunday when the new provincial leadership will be announced.
