Reading Time: < 1 minute

In an effort to preserve the memory of the late struggle icon and MK combatant Solomon Mahlangu, the National Youth Development Agency will unveil a newly revamped tombstone of him on Tuesday.

Mahlangu joined the African National Congress in 1976 and he soon left the country to train as an Umkhonto weSizwe soldier in Angola and Mozambique. Upon his return to South Africa he was executed by the apartheid regime for being part of a failed attempt by the ANC to smuggle weapons and literature into the country.

He was hanged in 1979 at the Pretoria Central Prison.
