The North West University (NWU) Potchefstroom campus is deeply shocked by the untimely death of Rudie van Venter,  who was a lecturer of Mathematics in the Faculty of Education.

Van Venter’s body was discovered in a ditch over the weekend by security personnel.

North West University spokesperson Louis Jacobs says his students are currently going through counselling.

“The exact circumstances surrounding his death are not yet known and an inquest docket is being investigated by the university. As of yesterday morning, the university has already took action and have arranged for counselling of the students of Mr Van Venter as well as his colleagues and also make counselling available to his next of kin.”
