N West police outline strategy to curb farm attacks

North West police Commissioner Baile Motswenyane has raised serious concerns about farm attacks at Delareyville, Sannieshof and surrounding areas, during a police and community Imbizo.

Motswenyane says the police are concerned about crime at farms especially of stock-theft.

He says that farming plays a vital role in food security and that stock-theft has been prioritised and will get necessary attention through Operation Fiela II.

Meanwhile, Provincial Chairperson of Community Policing Forum, Dickson Ngamlane indicated that there is a need for accountability of the police to the community.

On the other hand, Kobus Visser made a presentation about farmers Rural Safety Strategy and highlighted protocols relating to access to farms.

Farming community were also urged to work together with the police through station activation plans, as that can lead to immediate arrests after commission of such crimes.

Motswenyane outlined efforts to ensure safety and security at rural areas, through the Rural Safety Strategy and crime awareness campaign.
