NW divisions could cost the ANC in elections: Mabuza

African National Congress (ANC) Deputy President David Mabuza has conceded that the deep divisions in the party in North West are likely to cost the ANC dearly in the May 8th elections.

Mabuza’s statement comes after the ANC National Executive Committee disbanded the Provincial Executive Committee led by former premier Supra Mahumapelo but a court reversed the move which the NEC has since appealed.

The NEC disbanded the Provincial Task Team led by current Premier Job Mokgoro and has instead established a new team lead by Obed Bapela to prepare for the May elections.

Mabuza, who was on the campaign trail in Taung, says he believes the ANC still has a chance to get a decisive win in the North West.

“No, you can see the people love the ANC. We are very strong, people love the ANC. It was just poor mistakes, our division within the ANC but with the people they love the ANC and we’re going to win. If we can correct our mistakes, we are fine, home and dry,” says Mabuza.
