The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has announced that the deadline for applications for the 2022 academic year has been extended to January 21, 2022.
The initial deadline was January 7, 2022.
NSFAS says since applications opened in November last year, 600 000 have been received. More than 500 000 are new applicants.
In this application cycle, NSFAS enhanced its portal to enable first-time applicants who are beneficiaries of the South African Social Security Agency to receive an immediate response to their applications. Almost 200 000 of them were instantly confirmed eligible for funding.
