NSA president happy with transformation in netball

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Netball South Africa (NSA) president Cecilia Molokwane says she is happy to see the Limpopo Baobabs coached by a local at this year’s national netball league.

Molokwane said this at the Baobab’s official send off ceremony at a hotel outside Polokwane on Monday.

The president revealed that NSA had to intervene like in other provinces that enjoy leadership of their own coaches for development and sustainability.

Molokwane however is concerned that they are not taking coaching courses serious in the province.

Molokwane is also pleased to see numbers balance as far as transformation is concerned in different provincial squads. She says NSA has implemented rules that force provinces to comply with 4/8 quotas.

Meanwhile the President will launch the 2019 national netball league tomorrow in Monte Casino.

Molokwane says the league, the upcoming World Cup in Liverpool plus the 2023 world show-piece to be hosted in the country have made it possible for NSA to create platforms for the girls to compete.

Molokwane was kind enough to give a sneak peak into what to be expected at the launch tomorrow, touching on the remuneration of players and the additional teams to the competition to be held in Pretoria next month. Reporting by Lethabo Kganyago
