Nosicelo Mtebeni’s alleged murderer abandons bail application

The accused in the murder case of Nosicelo Mtebeni has abandoned his bail application.

The 25-year-old will remain in custody and the case has been remanded to September 28.

The accused briefly appeared in the East London Magistrate’s Court after his arrest for the gruesome murder of his girlfriend, last week.

Parts of her body were found in a suitcase in Quigney in East London, while the rest of her body was found in the house she shared with the accused.

Students and advocacy groups demonstrated outside the court calling for a harsh sentence.

Nosicelo Mtebeni’s family traumatised by her brutal murder

The family of 23-year-old Mtebeni says her death has left them traumatised.

Family spokesperson Teboho Mtebeni says Nosicelo was the beacon of hope for her family.

“As the family of Nosicelo Mtebeni we are truly so hurt about that, we are truly so hurt about it. It’s an incident that is so cruel in the area of Quigney in East London. I cannot even express my feeling about it. We were looking forward that she is going to change the situation within the family but now it is not going to happen. Like that she is no more.”
