A 26-year-old man from Jan Kempdorp in the Northern Cape who stands accused of rape will remain in custody. He appeared at the Jan Kempdorp Magistrate’s Court for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl.

Provincial NPA spokesperson Mojalefa Senokoatsane says the case has been postponed to next month for possible bail application.

“Aobakwe Joni has appeared in the Jan Kemdorp on a charge of rape. The accused will be remanded in custody until his next court appearance on May 3, 2022. The prosecution will be opposing that bail application.”
