Northern Cape currently with the highest voter turnout

Figures by the IEC show that with 3 hours to go before the close of voting, the Northern Cape had the highest voter turnout for the 2021 Local Government Elections at 28.37%.

Figures by the IEC show that with 3 hours to go before the close of voting, the Northern Cape had the highest voter turnout for the 2021 Local Government Elections at 28.37%.

This was followed by Western Cape with 27.54%, the Free State with 27.37%, Gauteng at 27.17%, KZN with 27.15%, Limpopo with 26.18%, the Eastern Cape with 24.47%, and the North West at 23.37%. Total voter turnout at 18:00 was at 26.32%, the lowest in the history of municipal elections. The IEC says it will, however, only be able to release the final voter turnout at a later stage.
