The Northern Cape has completed 74% of its counting, followed by the Western Cape at 46%, with the Free State at 26%.
With 45% of votes counted nationally, the ANC has already won control of 40. They are followed by the DA who have won seven councils with the potential of a further 13 councils that they are al leading in.
