The IPC says the regional structure was disbanded after an assessment of its functions was conducted.

The national leadership of the African National Congress (ANC) is expected to announce the Premier candidate for the North West province later on Monday.

The announcement will be made after a special NEC meeting in Cape Town.

Last week, the party announced names of seven Premier candidates, except for the North West.

This was to allow for broader consultation with all stakeholders in the province.

ANC National spokesperson Pule Mabe says: “The issue of North West was outstanding. It is expected that when we rise we will also been able to communicate to our people a clear message of what will be happening in the North West.”

“What we can assure our people is that the North West will also be having a Premier as well.”
