Two police officers in Mahikeng, in the North West who allegedly raped a 20-year-old woman are due to appear at the Mmabatho Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

They were arrested on Tuesday after the victim alleged that she was drugged and raped by the officers.

Independent Police Investigative Directorate’s (Ipid) Spokesperson in the North West, Lizzy Suping says the officers were arrested while they were at work.

“The officers were arrested yesterday afternoon while at work and they will be facing a charge of rape. Remember, after a person has been assaulted or raped by a police officer, they can either make a case with the police or they can call Ipid directly, which is what happened in this case,” says Suping.
