The acting manager of the Moretele Local Municipality in the North West has died.
The municipality has confirmed that Thabo Makwela died in hospital on Saturday.
Makwela, and two other municipal officials earlier tested positive for COVID-19.
One is still in hospital and the other is in self- isolation.
The municipal offices have been closed but municipal spokesperson, Mothupi Malebye, has assured the public that the delivery of basic services will not be disrupted.
“We just want to confirm the loss of acting municipality manager, Mr Thabo Ben Makwela, the mayor of Moretele Local Municipality Makinta Andries Monaheng, has confirmed that, and as municipality we are going to take a responsibility to bury that man with dignity, and may his soul rest in peace.”
