North West MEC urges motorists to avoid crashes

North West Public Safety MEC Dr Mpho Motlhabane has made a renewed call to motorists to take precautionary measures to avoid unnecessary crashes. Motlhabane’s call comes after a collision between two vehicles in which one person was killed and nine others injured on the R556 in Madikwe near Rustenburg on Tuesday morning.

The collision comes less than two weeks after 13 people were killed in a crash on the R49 road near Zeerust.

“A message of arrive alive that the MEC has put together for the festive season is that drivers should take precautionary measures as they are driving and ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy; tyres are in good working condition, as well as ensure that you obey all the rules of the road,” says Spokesperson for provincial Public Safety Department, Thabo Sematle.
