North West learners urged to report bullying

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Department of Education in the North West has called on learners to report any form of bullying to school authorities when things turn ugly.

Spokesperson Freddy Sepeng says they are disturbed and saddened by the killing of two teenage girls at the Stella combined school hostel, at the weekend near Vryburg in the North West.

A matron found the two Grade 11 girls hanging in the school’s dormitories.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death of the girls and was denied bail on Monday.

Sepeng says what happened at Stella hostel is unacceptable.

“It could have been avoided, so please tell educators, if there is any bullying in school or any one threatening you, tell your parents, tell your teachers and school principal so that this could be avoided.”
