North West families whose houses were devastated by heavy storm to get assistance

The North West MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Lena Miga has visited families whose houses were destroyed by storms and heavy rains experienced in the area.

The MEC accompanied by other role players, as well as North West Provincial Disaster officials were assessing the extent of damages caused by the rains.

Heavy rains left a trail of destruction, damaging homes, roads and leaving families stranded. Miga has already visited Bloemhof, Monakato and Lebotloane villages at Moretele municipality.

Some families have been seriously affected, after the roofs of their houses were blown off by heavy winds, leaving some with severe damages.

 

No injuries and fatalities were reported so far.

MEC Miga says they will be on standby to be able to respond to the challenge of disaster that the people might be facing, as they might be experiencing more rains in the coming days.

She says all affected households will be assisted through provincial emergency housing grant.
