Nominations for new DA parliamentary leader open

Nominations for the election of a new DA parliamentary leader have opened, following the resignation of Mmusi Maimane as parliamentary leader and DA member.

Maimane also resigned as partly leader on Wednesday.

The move has created a vacancy for the position of chief whip, previously held by John Steenhuisen.

According to the rules of the party, the tenure of the chief whip is linked to the term of the Parliamentary leader.

Party spokesperson, Solly Malatsi says, “These nominations will close on Friday at 8pm and any member of the DA parliamentary caucus who is a members of the NA can submit nominations and voting will only be by members of the DA NA caucus.”
