Water and Sanitation Minister, Nomvula Mokonyane says her department will not cut water supply to defaulting municipalities.

Mokonyane says 25 of the 30 affected municipalities contacted the department to make arrangement to settle outstanding debt totalling R10.7 billion.

She says more than R300 million has already been collected.

Mokonyane guaranteed the continuation of running water in households who qualifies for basic daily water supply of 35 litres per person.

This after the department engaged with stakeholders, including Treasury, Cogta and Salga.
